Essential Functions
- A machinist regularly inspects customer's equipment for salvage possibilities by visual inspection, and by the use of testing, diagnostic and measuring equipment to determine problems or malfunction.
- Use blueprints, bills of material, shop orders, or sample parts to machine parts by determining dimensions and tolerances of finished pieces, operation sequences, and setup requirements.
- Measure, mark, describe dimensions, and references points on work pieces as well as select align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, turning, grinding attachments, accessories and materials.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate cutting, and turning factors, such as feed, speeds, and part clearances, and to enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit machine tool programs.
- Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerances conditions and adjust machine controls or media as required.
- Machine parts and components within the specified tolerances, with limited rework/scrap, and in time with production standards with manual and/or CNC machines.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications, and quality standards.
- Confer with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Perform other work-related task as assigned.
- Comply with all Company and HSE policies and procedures.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Machinists must be able to read and understand English, read and understand parts books, service manuals, schematics and fabrication blueprints following established standards.
- Ability and dexterity to manipulate two control knobs at a time is required for machine tool operation in a safe and effective manner.
- Need to have the basic understanding of the welding process.
- Machinists must have the ability to read and comprehend service literature, basic measuring tools and to know and understand basic arithmetic.
- Must know and understand the various types of systems on a large number of different kinds of equipment and must be able to use their ability in a meaningful and productive manner during the course of their daily job assignment.
- Machinists must possess basic mechanical knowledge.

- Machine Shop Environment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Use hands for simple grasping, pushing & pulling and fine manipulation
- Use feet frequently in repetitive movement
- Frequently bend, squat and climb
- Have the physical ability to work in any position on a piece of equipment
- Be willing to be exposed to grease, oil and dirt
- Be willing to work overtime and on call as needed
