Role Description:  Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Registered Architect at our Fort Worth, Texas office. This is an excellent opportunity for professional growth and career advancement. The successful candidate will collaborate with a knowledgeable team of architects and engineers,  and be a licensed architect, preferably in the State of Texas. This role will primarily be for project architecture, preparing drawings and specification and leading a project team of staff designers as well as coordinating with other disciplines in executing projects. HZ is an award winning Architectural and Engineering firm providing innovative planning, architecture, engineering, and interior design solutions across the United States.

Education:  Master's in Architecture, or Professional Bachelors in Architecture from a NCARB accredited program 


Duties:

  • Creates designs using Revit and prepares construction documentation using information supplied by a supervisor or data obtained from research activities.
  • Research materials and assemblies for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings as directed by a project manager.
  • Integrates information from consultants and suppliers into models and drawings.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to production staff for the development of construction documentation.
  • Prepares presentation renderings and illustrations for client and or public presentations and in-office collaboration.
  • Processes contractor submittals by logging in the submittals and routing them to the appropriate party for review.
  • Assist in attending, recording, and distributing meeting minutes as well as assisting with general project correspondence.
  • Be able to review and edit architectural guide specifications or collaborate with a senior architect on their review.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
  • Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client). 
  • Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects
  • Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients
  • Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm
  • Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.  
  • Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff 
  • Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from a NCARB accredited program. Master's Degree a plus.
  • Must have professional architectural license,Registered Architect preferred or able to attain professional registration within six months of employment.
  • Preferably 3-5 years’ experience AFTER licensure Licensed Architect in some state of the US.
  • Well-rounded project experience, i.e. design, construction documents, construction administration.
  • Experience working with Architecture/Engineering or Engineering/Architecture firms (full-service project delivery).
  • Excellent Revit / BIM experience.
  • Industrial or institutional project experience a plus.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects.
  • Ability to prepare architectural documents and specifications for projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas. 
  • Ability to present in public or client meetings.
  • Knowledge of building codes, design and construction means, methods, and techniques.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
