About the Department

PAY & BENEFITS:
Pay begins at $67,292.55 for Human Resources Generalist and is dependent upon applicable experience.
In addition to the base salary, this full-time position is eligible for an annual performance bonus as well as a longevity bonus.

Description
The Human Resources Generalist performs professional-level human resources work in support of the Town’s personnel programs, with particular emphasis on compensation administration, employee engagement, and departmental training coordination. This position serves as a key resource for the development and execution of employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, recognition efforts, and internal communications designed to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture. The Human Resources Generalist also assists with compensation analysis and classification studies to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity. The position is expected to assume responsibility for coordinating and administering the Town’s Learning Management System (LMS) upon its implementation. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director, with significant collaboration with the Human Resources Manager and other Town departments.

Position Duties

  • Assists in the administration, analysis, and maintenance of the Town’s compensation programs, including salary surveys, market analysis, pay structure reviews, and classification studies.
  • Supports the planning, development, and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, including employee surveys, newsletters, appreciation events, wellness activities, and recognition programs.
  • Compiles and analyzes employee engagement survey data and assists in developing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Assists in the development of internal employee communications, including newsletters and other engagement-related content.
  • Assists the Human Resources Director with research and analysis on HR-related special projects, including policy development, compliance reviews, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources Manager on process improvements and HRIS data integrity projects as needed.
  • Provides guidance to employees and supervisors on general HR inquiries, ensuring policy consistency and fostering positive employee relations.
  • Participates in the development, communication, and interpretation of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates New Employee Orientation and assists with the coordination and delivery of miscellaneous training for the department.
  • Conducts exit interviews and reports concerns to HR Director.
  • Assists with the coordination and administration of training programs, including future responsibility for managing the Town’s Learning Management System (LMS) once implemented.
  • Maintains and compiles HR metrics and reports as requested.
  • Supports HR team members in cross-functional projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality of employee information.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license
  • Professional Certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred

Must have one of the following
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or related field with a concentration in Human Resources
  2. Two to Four years of progressively responsible human resources experience, with compensation and employee engagement experience preferred
  3. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
