Job Overview

Crosby Bar at the Crosby Street Hotel is seeking a dedicated and professional Kitchen Commis to join our growing culinary team. As a Commis, you’ll support the kitchen brigade by preparing ingredients, assisting in cooking, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills in a creative and supportive fine dining environment.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, eager to learn, and committed to maintaining the highest standards in food preparation and hygiene.

Main Duties

• Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies before each service
• Prepare ingredients for menu items (e.g., chopping vegetables, butchering meat, preparing sauces)
• Cook menu items under supervision and in collaboration with the kitchen team
• Follow instructions from the Executive Chef and Sous Chef precisely
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations
• Properly handle and store leftover food and ingredients
• Monitor inventory and restock as needed
• Ensure consistency, quality, and timely delivery of dishes
• Uphold all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines
• Foster a positive and professional attitude with colleagues and guests

Requirements

• Proven experience in a professional kitchen (as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role)
• Solid understanding of basic cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and ingredients
• Ability to follow instructions and execute tasks with speed and accuracy
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Eagerness to learn and grow within a fast-paced, high-standard environment
• Must have or be willing to obtain Food Safety Certification
• Flexible schedule availability, including evenings and weekends
