Responsibilities of Position

The Human Resources Technician is an integral role contributing to the smooth operation of the Department. They support a variety of HR functions related to payroll, benefits, and recruiting, requiring a broad HR knowledge and strong attention to detail. They maintain employee information in a human resources information system (HRIS) by entering and reviewing payroll, benefits, and position personnel actions. The HR Technician also develops and posts jobs through an applicant tracking system and places job advertisements. They conduct benefit billing audits, compile information and prepare reports, coordinate records, and back-up the HR Administrative Assistant with customer service and reception tasks.

Salary and Benefits:
• Starting annual salary: $68,890 - $78,732, DOQ.
• Full-time, on-site, FLSA non-exempt, non-bargaining unit (NBU) position.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in human resources, business administration or a similar field or high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by additional human resources training or experience.
• Experience performing similar technical work related to human resources including payroll, HRIS, recruiting, or benefit administration.
• An equivalent combination of work experience and education that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
• Knowledge of HR functions, best practices, laws, and regulations in a variety of areas, including hiring, payroll, and employee benefits.
• Experience working with confidential information.
• Strong customer, organization, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience working with Tyler MUNIS or similar Human Resources Information System.
• Experience working in public-sector human resources.

Drug screening and criminal background check will be required. The annual starting salary range is $68,890 - $78,732, DOQ, plus an excellent fringe benefits package. Applications must be submitted online no later than Sunday, October 19, 2025.
