Position Summary:
Schafer Industries is currently seeking a Group Lead for its Schafer Driveline operation in Blacklick, Oh. The Group Lead manages the shop floor while maintaining inventory through Visual MRP system. The role is responsible to maintain levels required on a daily basis to meet manufacturing demands. The role is also responsible for execution of the safety program, the shipping and receiving functions, and miscellaneous personnel related tasks at the plant location.

Essential Functions:
- Perform shipping & receiving functions.
- Conduct tests of inventory through cycle count procedures and spot counts.
- Troubleshoot quantity discrepancies with manufacturing and inspection personnel.
- Record and monitor all items with shelf-life daily and notify appropriate personnel when material has expired, example: Loctite.
- Ensure parts have specific home locations, high volume parts first priority. Follow up on the location to location negative reports with material handlers.
- Investigates true negatives for BOM, receiving, scrap or usage issues.
- Adjust inventory as needed to accurately reflect on hand balances.
- Maintain all receipts, inventory received into the system.
- Coordinate with vendors on return of returnable packaging.
- Coordinate to manage safety stock program with Buyer/Planner.
- Investigate accidents, injuries and near misses.
- Maintain forklift training & inspection duties; including forklift training/certification.
- Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development.
- Ensure on-the-job training is performed regularly and consistently.
- Ensure inspection processes are followed consistently.
- Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
- Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
- Monitor production rates based on labor availability and actual performance.
- Perform inspections (1st piece-in process-CMM) and Interpret CMM readouts.
- Perform entire job set-ups on CNC equipment to be production ready.
- Perform miscellaneous Human Resources tasks as assigned by management
- Customer service duties include processing customer orders in the MRP system.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely manner.
- Assist Production Team Leads in accident investigation.
- Schedule shipping, arrange pick-ups/carrier deliveries
- Maintain the daily production schedule to ensure on time delivery.
- Process receipts in Visual
- Manage overtime process
- Assist in cross training and maintaining / updating training matrix
- Create end of day shift reports sent to BLK team.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 5 years in a supervisory or management position.
- Technical Capacity to interpret production results and set up machines for daily production.
- Leadership skills including ability to resolve interpersonal conflict with an hourly workforce.
- Ability to work independently and to identify and implement solutions to problems encountered.
- Proven ability to communicate with all levels of employees, vendors, suppliers and customers.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
