About the Department
The Welcome Plan Economic Development Coordinator will play a key role in advancing immigrant workforce inclusion across the region. This position is responsible for expanding and strengthening a network of partners, leading collaborative workgroups, coordinating impactful events, and supporting sustainable systems that promote economic opportunity for immigrant and refugee communities.
*This is a hybrid position, 20 hours per week, with approximately 50% in person office hours. Must be flexible to travel in the West Michigan region, typically during usual business hours with some evenings and weekends as needed.*Key Responsibilities include:
1. Network Engagement and Expansion
- Conduct outreach to recruit new network partners, including employers, chambers of commerce, immigrant business owners, higher education institutions, and workforce agencies.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners through regular communication, one-on-one check-ins, and collaborative planning.
- Map and track local and regional stakeholders involved in workforce development and immigrant talent support.
2. Workgroup Leadership and Coordination
- Serve as a co-chair for the Maximize Economic Potential Workgroup, collaborating with fellow co-chairs on scheduling, agenda development, facilitation, and follow-up.
- Ensure consistent participation from diverse stakeholders across sectors.
- Document and distribute meeting minutes and key decisions.
3. Event Planning and Execution
- Lead planning and logistics for at least one annual regional event focused on immigrant hiring, retention, and workforce inclusion.
- Coordinate venue, speakers, agenda, partner participation, and outreach strategy.
- Manage event communications and marketing in collaboration with RCC staff and partners.
- Oversee day-of logistics, registration, and post-event follow-up including surveys and debriefs.
4. Data Tracking and Reporting
- Develop and maintain systems to track engagement metrics such as:
- Number and type of network partners engaged
- Meeting and event attendance
- Outreach activities and outcomes
- Feedback and survey data
- Prepare reports and data summaries for internal planning and funder updates.
5. Communication and Collaboration
- Collaborate with RCC leadership and staff to align efforts with broader community and regional goals.
- Coordinate with cross-regional partners to share best practices and explore collaborative opportunities.
6. Infrastructure and Sustainability Development
- Support the development of sustainable practices and systems that extend beyond the project period.
- Identify and document promising practices and replicable tools.
- Assist in developing long-term partner engagement strategies and exploring funding opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Experience in event coordination or project management.
- Knowledge of workforce development, immigrant/refugee communities, or economic development.
- Comfort with data tracking, reporting, and spreadsheet tools.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Bi-lingual or multilingual candidates highly preferred.
