Job Title: Shift Lead

Classification: Hourly (Non-exempt)

Location: Rosemount, MN

Working Schedule: Full-time


Position Overview:
The Shift Lead supports operation in case of absence of other operators at their position. Training and qualification for different positions in billet cast house is provided.


Compensation and Benefits:
The expected starting wage for this position is $24.50/hr. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Replace operators in case of their absence or fill-in situations.
  • The flex lead role will cover responsibilities of the production foreman if they are gone, acting as the production shift foreman.
  • Training & qualifications are required for each position Flexed to.
  • The sequence of training and qualification is planned as follows: Scrap and dross handling, Packing & Shipping, and Casting Operator/Assistant (support)
  • Assist Maintenance if necessary to ensure minimal production down time.
  • Follow all Safety guidelines and procedures: Wear proper protective equipment and clothing, Ensure all guards and shields on all systems are in place and operating properly (report any discrepancies immediately), Assure that others in your area are applying safe work techniques. Regularly check that heat shields and windshields are clean to allow for maximum visibility. Check to ensure that you are following procedures when you encounter wet and/or corroded scrap. Warn others of dangerous scrap. Keep work area clean and free from scrap and dross. Obey all safety rules pertaining to your work area and forklift use. Report any visible safety hazards, equipment maintenance needs or failures, all accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor
  • Maintain production paperwork and documentation as required.
  • Improve job knowledge by attending active training sessions.
  • Positively communicate and interpret company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • 3 years of work experience in an industrial manufacturing plant
  • High School diploma preferred
  • Problem solving skills, organization and planning ahead
  • Basic computer skills
  • Completed Hazwoper, Smoke House, Molten Metal Safety, and Cast house training
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required by production needs.
  • Ability to work in various temperature environments as needed in manufacturing settings.

Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
