Tillman FiberCo is building a 100% fiber network to support the next generation of broadband services. We have an incredible opportunity for a Network and Security Engineer to join our NPEC reporting to Tampa, Florida.


Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of OSI Layer protocols including Routing Protocols like OSPF and Data Link Layers like Etherenet
  • Strong understanding of Firewall configuration and basics of IPSEC Tunnel configuration.
  • Sound knowledge of G-PON, XGS-PON and 25G PON
  • Circuit test and turn up experience for Dark/Lit Fiber circuits (including data center cross connect testing)
  • Configuring and troubleshooting security infrastructure software and hardware like Fortinet/Palo Alto/Cisco Firewalls
  • Performing upgrades to network and security infrastructure.
  • Supports cabinet integration by coordinating and troubleshooting various vendors like Equipment hardware, Backhaul and construction 
  • Provides project management for various vendor projects 
  • Assists the team in creating network design process for the leased circuit 
  • Executing current processes and procedures that aid in efficiency of managing and expanding the network.
  • Implementing disaster recovery procedures
  • Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in Nokia IP and PON network, Alcatel Lucent IP Network and Fortinet Firewall.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Circuit test and turn up experience for Dark/Lit Fiber circuits
  • Experience in using Google Earth for review of KMZ files
  • It would be nice to have Service Provider Experience and understanding of MPLS services like L3 VPRN, L2 VPLS, Pseuodiwires, MP-BGP
  • BS in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, software, and technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license
