INNOVIM Defense Services is seeking a Linux System Administrator to join our team supporting the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) program at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Our team designs and develops Enterprise IT and Mission Operations Technology solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide high impact, creative solutions to complex technical problems, the ability to work as part of a large team, and the ability to provide critical support and independent review of the work of teammates.

The candidate will:

  • Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems
  • Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices
  • Make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements
  • Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions
  • Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts
  • Install, configure, and manage RHEL and other Linux-based systems
  • Assist integration leads and managers in problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation as needed
  • Advise team members and leadership and make appropriate technical recommendations regarding system development issues and improvements, optimization tools and methods, process creation and development, and support efforts.
  • Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problem and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems
  • Perform evening shift work and weekend duty as needed to meet off-hour mission activities

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have 8, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
    • May be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • Must have 5, or more, years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual machines, and troubleshooting
  • Must have experience with Multi Factor Authentication methodology
  • Must have experience building, configuring and deploying servers/systems in a virtualized environment
  • Must have administration experience on RHEL 8/9 using Command Line Interface
  • Must be able to interface with software engineers, system engineers, and subject matter experts to solve complex integration and technical problems
  • Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance


Desired Requirements:

  • Have experience working with Ansible automation
  • Have experience configuring and managing NetApp storage devices
  • Have experience with security patching and software management using RHEL Satellite
  • Have network troubleshooting experience
  • Have knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations
  • Have a degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline


This position is expected to pay $ 110,000 - $ 125,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
