Equipment Operator - Project Team
Hiring Range: $23.00 - $25.89 per hour

About the Position:
The Project Team contributes to a variety of maintenance operations for multiple departments throughout the City. As an Equipment Operator on the Project Team, you will operate a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, tractors, forklifts, grounds keeping equipment, snow removal equipment, power and hand tools, and other specialized maintenance and construction equipment related to the area of assignment. This position is also responsible for performing safety and maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles or equipment, as well as performing routine vehicle and equipment repairs in the field.
About the General Services Department:
The General Services Department was created in 2018 to provide quality internal management services that support City departments and enable them to carry out their community missions cost-effectively and efficiently. These internal services include fleet maintenance and acquisition, facilities and real estate, procurement, warehousing, project team, street maintenance and operations, and other support services. The General Services Department also directly manages enterprise operations that include Parking, Golf Courses, and Solid Waste and Recycling. Our team is made up of dynamic, creative, and flexible individuals who lead by example and gain the trust and respect of others through teamwork, leadership, and communication.
What You'll Do:
- Operate a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, tractors, forklifts, grounds keeping equipment, snow removal equipment, power and hand tools, and other specialized maintenance and construction equipment related to the area of assignment.
- Perform safety and maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles or equipment and perform routine vehicle and equipment repairs in the field.
- Set up safe and effective traffic control, including street barricades and cones, prior to the performance of maintenance and construction activities to ensure public and worker safety through work zones.
- Direct and control traffic around work sites.
- Participate in the installation, maintenance, and reconstruction of streets and related systems; clean and seal cracks; dig out and repair sections of road as needed; fill and repair potholes in streets and alleys; patch utility cuts; shovel rake, distribute, and clean materials necessary for completion of jobs, including asphalt used in patching, repairing and reconstructing streets.
- Install and replace guardrails, barriers, and other street system safety devices.
- Clean debris from irrigation systems, street and storm drain systems, parking lots, walkways, ditches, and alleys; haul material collected to landfill and dump sites; remove snow and ice from City streets, parking lots, and walkways.
- Clean and maintain assigned areas; pick up and discard trash and litter; rake leaves; clear snow, ice, and other debris from roadways, parking lots, walkways, and other facilities.
- Construct and install improvements to walkways, bike paths, irrigation, and storm drain systems, including building and forming irrigation and storm drain structures; operate concrete cutting and breaking equipment; construct concrete forms; and pour and assist in finishing concrete.

This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.
What We're Looking For:
- One year (1) of general labor experience.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Commercial Driver License within 6 months of hire.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
