Role Overview
Kodak is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Printed Electronics team onsite in Rochester, New York.
This is an Engineering Manager position in our printed electronics organization, reporting to the VP, Printed Electronics. The printed electronics additive manufacturing process utilizes production-scale, roll-to-roll equipment in class 1,000 and 10,000 cleanroom environments. The equipment is used for the development and manufacturing of conductive patterned on film substrates using two fundamental process blocks: 1) flexographic printing and 2) electroless copper plating.
The scope of this position includes ownership and oversight of the manufacturing processes, will have supervisor responsibilities for the Process Engineering staff. The role will ensure quality in manufacturing with strong collaboration with the Quality Manager, Operations Manager and staff. The right candidate will be able to ensure that the Engineering team consistently delivers high-quality printed electronics products to our customers, while driving meaningful improvements in existing processes.
An ideal candidate will be a high-performing Engineer or Engineering Manager who can lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians. Near term focus is utilization and optimization of an existing plant for product commercialization and order fulfillment. This is a hands-on Engineering role, coordinating multiple process systems within a growing manufacturing organization.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the organization’s Process Engineering Team, including supervisory responsibilities for process engineers, technicians and maintenance mechanics
• Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance activities within the organization
• Lead the selection of production process and hardware improvement projects, and ensure individual projects are managed with efficient use of organizational resources, provide effective solutions, and are thoroughly validated prior to implementation on the shopfloor.
• Maintain product and process control strategies & develop new strategies as needed to enhance process efficiency, reduce costs, and increase cash generation
• Work directly with the Operations Manager to evaluate compliance with processes and procedures.
• Lead effective resolution of process issues through interactions with all parties, including quality and product management, by driving root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead the organization to meet process performance objectives.
Required Skills:
• Functional knowledge or SPC best practices
• Risk assessment and contingency planning, including the effective use of PFMEA and MFMEA
• Effective project management for manufacturing programs
• Ability to work in a flexible R&D / low-volume manufacturing operation, with experience in volume manufacturing and ability to support rapid ramp-up from pilot scale to production.
• Ability to bring out the best in a diverse and talented group of individuals through demonstrated team leadership.
Desired Skills:
• 5 years+ relevant experience required.
• Experience in roll-to-roll manufacturing, functional printing, printed electronics, or additive manufacturing.
• Knowledge of common problem-solving methodologies (8D, 3Leg 5Why, Kepner-Tregoe Matrix, etc.)
• Experience utilizing an MES for the fulfillment of production orders.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering team
• Leadership role in a manufacturing organization that meets quality standards such as ISO 9001: 2015 and IATF 16949:2016.
• Proficiency in the AIAG Core Tools
Educational Requirements:
Minimum B.S. Degree in Engineering-ME/EE/IE/ChE or equivalent experience.
