The Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is managed by the Department of Aviation of the City of Philadelphia. PHL is the only major airport serving the nation's 7th largest metropolitan area and is a large hub airport that serves over 25 million passengers per year. Twenty-seven airlines, including all major domestic carriers, offer nearly 323 daily departures to more than 120 destinations worldwide. Located 7 miles from downtown Philadelphia, the Airport is easily accessible and convenient to many tourist sites, business centers, and cultural hubs. The Airport is self-sustaining and uses no local tax dollars. PHL is one of the largest economic engines in the region, generating $16.8 billion to the economy and accounting for 106,000 full-time jobs annually. The Airport Information Technology department is headed by the Airport Chief Information Officer (CIO). Airport IT is responsible for the strategic direction of IT services at the Airport, management of all Airport IT infrastructure, and the operational support for hundreds of different Airport related systems that serve the needs of the airlines, TSA, FAA, and passengers.
The Cable Plant Software Coordindator is responsible for the maintenance, accuracy, and integrity of the airport’s cable plant management system (netTerrain). This role ensures all fiber and copper installations, deactivations, and changes are properly documented and visually represented within the system. In this role, they will serve as the primary point of contact for all netTerrain-related support and will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure physical cable infrastructure is aligned with operational standards and fully documented. This role will also oversee our telecommunications rooms, data closets, IDF closets, and MDFs to ensure compliance with our standards.
As a member of the IT Systems & Infrastructure team, you will be expected to promote a collaborative, human-centered, innovative, accountable, transparent, and inclusive culture within IT.
Essential Functions
Cable Plant Software Management
- Maintain and update the netTerrain cable management platform, ensuring accurate and current representation of all active fiber and copper connections.
- Serve as the system owner and subject matter expert for netTerrain, supporting users across departments and assisting with training, access, and troubleshooting.
- Establish and maintain best practices for documentation, version control, and system integrity.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Document all new cable installations, modifications, and decommissions.
- Collaborate with the Cable Technicians and Capital Development Group to capture project-level changes and ensure timely updates.
- Conduct periodic audits of Data Centers, IDF closets and MDFs to ensure installations conform to established standards and are reflected in netTerrain.
Vendor Oversight & Coordination
- Provide oversight and technical guidance to third-party vendors during cable installation projects.
- Review installation plans, perform spot checks, and validate as-built documentation against netTerrain.
- Ensure vendors adhere to physical infrastructure standards and airport policies.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner with Infrastructure teams, Cable Technicians, and Capital Development project managers to coordinate cable plant activities.
- Participate in infrastructure planning meetings to stay informed on upcoming projects impacting the physical plant.
Compliance & Standards
- Develop and enforce standards for labeling, documentation, and IDF closet configuration.
- Recommend improvements to cable management workflows and procedures.
Additional Duties
- Perform other IT-related duties as requested.
- Participate in infrastructure planning meetings to stay informed on upcoming projects impacting the physical plant.
Compliance & Standards
- Develop and enforce standards for labeling, documentation, and IDF closet configuration.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cable plant management, or facilities documentation.
- Hands-on experience with cable plant software (netTerrain or similar platforms).
- Familiarity with structured cabling standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI).
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to interpret network diagrams and infrastructure schematics.
- Excellent communication and vendor coordination abilities.
Additional/Desirable Skills & Abilities
- Experience working in a critical infrastructure environment (e.g., airport, utility, or large campus).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or GIS systems.
- BICSI certification or equivalent a plus.
Qualifications:
- We value your knowledge and expertise over the method by which you acquired it. While a specific degree is not mandatory, we consider a bachelor's degree to be a beneficial foundation for this position.
- A minimum of three to five years of experience in IT infrastructure or working with Layer 1 technology is required.
Salary: $70k-$90k
