Position Overview:
As a Paramedic with Alamance County EMS, you will work independently or as part of a team to provide advanced emergency medical care, life-saving interventions, and safe transport in a wide variety of emergency situations including accidents, medical crises, natural disasters, and more. You will be on the front lines, making an impact every shift.
This is a 24/72-hour shift schedule position with built-in overtime, paid training & personal growth.
Position Duties
What You’ll Do:
+ Respond to 911 emergency calls for medical, trauma, fire, and disaster situations
+ Perform advanced life support (ALS), stabilization procedures, and emergency medical care based on NC OEMS protocols
+ Operate and maintain emergency medical vehicles and equipment for readiness
+ Assess patients, provide critical interventions, and transport safely to receiving facilities
+ Communicate effectively with patients, families, bystanders, dispatch, and medical staff
+ Accurately document patient care using electronic reporting systems
+ Secure, clean, and disinfect vehicles and equipment after each call
+ Participate in ongoing training and continuing education to maintain certifications
+ Engage with a supportive, professional EMS team dedicated to serving Alamance County
Minimum Qualifications
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
+ Holds current NC EMT-Paramedic Certification (or eligible for reciprocity)
+ Maintains valid NC Driver’s License
+ Possesses or will obtain current certifications in PALS and CPR
+ Demonstrates strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
+Communicates clearly and compassionately under pressure
+ Works independently and thrives in a team environment
+ Embodies integrity, accountability, and a commitment to patient care
+ Is physically capable of performing the essential functions, including lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. and operating in dynamic, high-stress environments
Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required and some experience as an EMT-Paramedic; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills: Prior experience with data-entry and computers preferred. Prior Microsoft Windows usages preferred.
License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver's license is required. Certification by the State of North Carolina as an EMT Paramedic. Required to maintain ACLS, BTLS, PALS and CPR certifications.
