Description

The National Pork Board (NPB) is seeking a Producer & State Engagement Intern to join our team. This internship will focus on assisting the Producer & State Engagement team with relationship management of industry stakeholders. To support our nation’s pork producers, we are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and collaborative individual in this role.  

Roles and responsibilities may include: 

  • Assist the Manager of Industry Relations in coordinating producer-facing events and meetings. 
  • Support engagement efforts with NPB State Pork Association partners. 
  • Help build and maintain stakeholder relationships and the internal systems that assist in those efforts. 
  • Participate and collaborate in cross-departmental projects aligned with NPB’s three-year Strategic Plan. 
  • Gain hands-on experience and exposure to multiple areas of the pork industry. 
  • Opportunity to develop or enhance professional skills.  

Requirements

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Students will be pursuing a BS or MS degree in ag business, animal science, ag education, communications or other relevant field. 
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong initiative and self-starter. 
  • Ability to learn in an agile working environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills.  
  • Some travel will be required. 

Criteria for applying: 

  • Hours: 40 hrs./week
  • Internships are paid starting at $17/hour
  • NPB internships are generally scheduled May 18 -?August 7, 2026. 
  • All intern positions are based at our office in Clive, IA. 
  • All interns will be expected to secure their own housing for the summer, a living stipend is provided.

The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, technology, swine health, pork safety and environmental management.??Applicants should be able to support the mission of the organization with enthusiasm to serve U.S. pork producers.
