About the role: 

The Hospice Medical Director (HMD) provides overall medical direction for the BCN Hospice program in collaboration with the Sr. Hospice Medical Director and Clinical Leadership. This includes but is not limited to: support of BCNs’ hospice team physicians, through bedside clinical care and work with the interdisciplinary team, the HMD directs the medical component of patient care wherever the patient resides, consistent with BCNs’ policies and in accordance with Federal and State hospice regulations and oversees the medical practice of all Hospice physicians. 

Requirements

  • Current license to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky. Board eligibility/certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Oncology, or appropriate medical society.
  • Certification/eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred.
  • Hospice Medical Director Certification.
  • Maintains active DEA.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in the practice of medicine.
  • Familiar with the philosophical, technical and regulatory aspects of Hospice and Palliative care.
  • Expertise in pain and symptom management preferred.
  • Ability to work as a member of a large interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with conflict resolution.
  • Team members will be expected to comply with Bluegrass Care Navigators (BCN) Employee Health, infectious disease, and vaccination policies.
