The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Community Training Specialist to join our team. 

 

The Community Training Specialist is responsible for the delivery of The Harris Center’s community training portfolio. In addition to training, they will also assist with the identification, scheduling, and marketing of the agency’s training portfolio.

 

This job requires availability to deliver trainings on weekends and nights if needed. Reliable transportation and willingness to drive to various locations throughout the county is required.

 

Your Role in action:

·       Responsible for the delivery of Youth, Higher Education and Adult Mental Health First Aid and all other modules as assigned.

·       Responsible for the delivery of other community training portfolio offerings as needed which may require additional certifications.

·       Assists with the identification, scheduling, and marketing of community organizations and businesses interested in training.

·       Ensures that their various training certifications for are up to date and relevant to the needs of our community.

·       Complies with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies and performance contract documentation requirements.

·       Performs other related duties as assigned.

·       Demonstrates harmonious behavior and professional conduct when interacting with other staff and individuals out in the community.

·       Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute projects.

·       Demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the public in the community.

·       Maintains all current certifications by meeting minimum training requirements for each certification annually.

·       Submits all reports on time as determined by reporting schedule with Community Training Manager.

 

What qualifications you will need:

 

Education:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, and Counseling or in a related behavioral field preferred.

 

Experience:

·       1 year of experience in outreach, training or organizational/administrative support.

·       Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred.

·       Candidates certified to deliver MHFA and YMHFA both virtually and in person preferred.

 

Other Key Qualifications:

·       Current and valid driver’s license required.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·       Understanding of mental illness and the aspects of MI as it relates to the consumers served.

·       Must possess effective written and verbal communication and organization skills.

·       Must be able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

·       Must have knowledge of a variety of community resources.
