Join the Team: Winter Environmental Educator
Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area — Boise National Forest, ID | Seasonal (January–April) | 30 hrs/week (Training in December)
Under the direction of the Environmental Education Supervisor, Bogus Basin’s SnowSchool program is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable field instructor to teach snow science and winter ecology to school field trip groups during the winter season. As a Winter Environmental Educator, you’ll lead students on snowshoe-based explorations at Bogus Basin in the Boise National Forest while engaging them in hands-on environmental education activities and sharing information about the natural world. You’ll provide meaningful experiences that inspire the next generation to care for their environment, while supporting Bogus Basin’s nonprofit mission.

How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Winter Environmental Educator, you’ll inspire students every day by delivering hands-on lessons in snow science and winter ecology. You’ll serve as a role model for environmental stewardship, connect diverse groups of students and community members to the natural world, and contribute to sustainability projects on the mountain.
A Day in the Life
Each morning, you’ll ride up the mountain with your team and prepare gear and lesson materials before students arrive. You’ll meet your assigned group, strap on snowshoes, and lead them along winter trails—digging snow pits, using scientific tools, and sparking engaging conversations about ecology and climate. After the program, you’ll help maintain trails and igloos, organize gear, clean the lodge, and support sustainability projects. Then, you’ll return down the hill with your team knowing you’ve made a real impact.
