Your Purpose
We're currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel to join us on a fixed-term contract for approximately 7 months. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will lead legal support for your business units within the UK&I region, providing strategic legal advice to enable business success while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks. You will play a key role in safeguarding Molson Coors’ interests, driving operational excellence across the Legal & Government Affairs team, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead legal strategy and support for designated UK&I business units, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and aligning legal input with commercial objectives.
- Draft, negotiate, and oversee complex commercial agreements, including strategic partnerships, M&A transactions, disposals, and high-value projects, ensuring legal risk is effectively managed.
- Drive legal compliance and governance frameworks, ensuring robust internal controls, regulatory reporting, and alignment with global standards across ethics, sustainability, and risk.
- Manage and develop a high-performing legal team, providing coaching, mentoring, and succession planning to build capability and support career growth.
- Represent the company in high-stakes legal matters, including litigation, disputes, and regulatory investigations, while maintaining strong relationships with external authorities and stakeholders.
- Oversee external counsel engagement, ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and alignment with business priorities across all outsourced legal services.
- Lead legal operations and continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation, template development, and adoption of legal technology and AI tools.
- Act as a key contributor to crisis and risk management, serving on the Crisis Management Team when required and supporting enterprise risk mitigation strategies.
About You
- Qualified Solicitor with significant post-qualification experience, holding a current UK practising certificate.
- Previous experience in an in-house senior legal role, skilled in managing and developing legal professionals within a high-performing team.
- Highly skilled in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, with a proven ability to balance legal risk and business objectives across diverse functions and high-value projects.
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to partner with senior stakeholders, influence and simplify complex legal concepts.
- Commercially astute with a strategic mindset, experienced in managing external counsel and legal budgets.
- Skilled at identifying legal risks, executing mitigation strategies, and upholding ethical standards, while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
