If you've gained experience in agency, in-house, a thinktank, government, or parliament and are looking to join an organisation that sits at the heart of several dynamic sectors, delivers high-impact campaigns and works across complex and exciting policy issues, then we want to hear from you.
The role would suit a proactive and politically-savvy policy wonk who thrives on autonomy, is able to build relationships across industry, government and parliament, is comfortable getting stuck into government consultations and strategies, across the detail of a range of issues, with the confidence to devise client strategies with strong research and communications skills.
Tech is our heritage, and this role will see a particular focus across telecoms, internet and cybersecurity. Through our client base in these areas, which includes trade associations and industry alliances we have been running for many years, you will be directly influencing critical issues, making a positive difference to key sectors. Our work for trade associations such as ISPA,
CCUK, HTA and CBN, means you will quickly become a subject matter expert, working with and for some of the biggest companies in the UK. Experience and/or a passion in our focus areas will give you a head start in this role. While your focus will be policy and public affairs, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your horizons across PR, crisis communications, and corporate comms.
We are looking for:
- A policy wonk who loves to get to grips with a range of interesting and complex issues
- An analytical mind, with strong research and writing skills, comfortable drafting punchy press statements through to detailed consultation responses
- Thorough understanding of how policy is made - from parliamentary questions & debates to committee sessions, following the process of a Bill, consultations and strategies from government and regulators
- Demonstrable experience of using the policy-making process to affect change
- A confident professional, comfortable leading working group meetings of senior industry representatives and leading engagement campaigns
- An entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable spotting policy opportunities for new business
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic agency environment with a positive attitude and excellent organisational skills
- Proficiency with monitoring and research tools, including AI, for effective analysis and action
- An existing network, be it political, government or industry would be beneficial but is not essential
- Ability to adopt AI tools and technologies to maximise efficiency and effectiveness across daily tasks, or a willingness and interest in learning how.
