The London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Senior Practitioner Transitions Designated Social Care Officer to join the CYADS Team. This dual-role post combines operational leadership as a Senior Practitioner within the Children and Young Adults with Disabilities (CYADS) Transition Team and strategic oversight as the Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO). This is a crucial position for a motivated and experienced professional seeking to make a significant impact.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will provide vital support to the Team Manager by overseeing daily operations and ensuring high standards of practice. Your responsibilities will include supervising staff, supporting colleagues with complex casework, and fostering the development of the team. A key part of this role is ensuring that support plans are delivered cost-effectively and make effective use of local resources.
The DSCO element of the post broadens your influence, giving you a strategic role in improving services across the borough.
You will enhance collaboration and coordination between social care, education, and health services to provide a seamless support system for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This includes a core responsibility to improve the quality of life and outcomes for children and young people with SEND and their families. Finally, this post is instrumental in ensuring that Harrow Council meets its statutory responsibilities under relevant legislation, upholding national standards and promoting best practices across the service.
About you:The successful candidate will have:
- A social Worker qualification and hold qualifications, such as, CQSW, DipSW/HE, BA in social Worker or MA/MSC in Social Work.
- You must be registered with Social Work England.
- Hold the Practice Educator qualification.
- Educational attainment to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
- A minimum of two years post qualification experience in a social work role.
