As a Payroll Analyst, you'll handle a variety of tasks related to the preparation, processing, verification, and reconciliation of payroll and benefit records—all from the comfort of your home.

What will you be doing!
- Accurately calculating, verifying, and entering payroll data into the payroll system, including new hires, retroactive pay changes, allowances, premiums, benefits, taxes, deductions, and banking information.
- Preparing, verifying, and processing all employee payroll payments (regular, special, and benefit-related), in alignment with CNL policies, Collective Agreements, and the Canada Labour Code.
- Managing leaves of absence by preparing cost calculations for benefits and pensions, issuing Records of Employment (ROEs), calculating Supplementary Benefits, and reconciling related accounts.
- Entering timecards for employees on extended absences and calculating pay adjustments for income-tested disability (ITD) and leave without pay.
- Processing severance and vacation payouts for departing employees, including reconciliations, adjustments, and ROE preparation.
- Ensuring correct deductions and remittances for union dues, garnishments, credit unions, Family Responsibility Office (FRO), and United Way.
- Responding to payroll-related inquiries from employees, internal departments (Finance, HR), and external agencies (e.g., HRDC, CRA) with professionalism and discretion.
- Providing support through our Contact Center phone line and ServiceNow platform, acting as a knowledgeable service provider.
- Handling confidential payroll matters in accordance with privacy laws and internal policies.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- 2-year college diploma in Business Administration or equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
- Completed at least level 1 certification (Payroll Compliance Professional) with the National Payroll Institute.
- Experience
- Three (3) years’ experience in high-volume payroll processing, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Two (2) years’ experience using Ceridian Dayforce or a similar application.
- Experience utilizing Oracle and Service Now programs.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in the use of Excel (Advanced preferred) and Word.
- Commitment to great customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage time and competing priorities effectively, including various activities ranging from the detail-oriented to the strategic/complex.
- Demonstrated superior oral and written communication skills to confidently deal with a wide variety of tasks and communicate with employees.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management is required.
- Computer Skills – Proficiency in Excel and Word, Payroll & HRIS systems, comfortable with new technologies and automated processes.
- Ability to work overtime when required to meet payroll deadlines.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location:
