Duties

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs): Your resume should demonstrate accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications. TQ 1. Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience in, managing oceanography, meteorology and/or hydrography program to ensure appropriate technical and operational plans are developed and programs are implemented to meet fleet requirements. TQ 2. Expert knowledge of oceanographic/meteorological principles and/or interdisciplinary sciences (including computer science, engineering or mathematics) and their impact on national security interests, as well as techniques and methods used for investigating, analyzing and understanding complex, geophysical relationships. TQ 3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders (e.g., technical experts, program managers, academia, industry, and acquisition officials) to achieve unity of direction for developing scientific capabilities through innovative strategies. TQ 4. Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate, and advocate for adoption of scientific capabilities to improve the long-term security, integrity, availability, and operations of oceanographic and related programs. TQ 5. Extensive technical background and judgment is required. Education
A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

This position is a Senior Scientific position in the federal government. Senior Scientific and professional employees are in non-executive positions whose duties are broad and complex enough to be classified above GS 15 level. Senior level positions involve performance of high-level research and development in the physical, biological, medical, or engineering sciences.
