Pay Range: $80,000 – $90,000 per year
Position Summary:
As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and services for our commercial solar energy projects. Your primary focus will be on executing cost-effective purchasing strategies, ensuring quality compliance, and maintaining on-time delivery to support project deadlines. You’ll work closely with vendors, internal project teams, engineers, and construction professionals to help ensure the successful execution of solar installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end purchasing process for solar equipment, materials, and subcontracted services
- Identify and qualify vendors and suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability
- Develop and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs); evaluate bids and negotiate pricing and contract terms
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely deliveries and adherence to specifications
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and finance teams to forecast needs and align with project schedules
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate logistics to avoid delays and cost overruns
- Track and report purchasing metrics; identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements
- Stay informed on market trends including PV technology, pricing, and supply chain disruptions
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience (preferably in solar or renewable energy)
- Strong knowledge of solar components (e.g., PV modules, inverters, racking systems)
- Proven skills in negotiation, vendor management, and contract administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis for cost comparison and forecasting
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management abilities
- Experience managing procurement for commercial solar projects
- Familiarity with logistics, tariffs, and import/export regulations in the solar sector
- Knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices and supply chain risk management
