Job Description: Phlebotomists are a valuable member of our health care team who will specialize in extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or fingerstick.
About us: Magnolia Health Systems is a statewide healthcare company with assisted living, pediatric and skilled nursing facilities. Magnolia Health Systems is seeking a compassionate Phlebotomist to become a part of our team where our primary goal is to provide exceptional care to our residents. This position will be focused on the skilled nursing facilities located in Portland and Winchester, Indiana.
About the Role: Magnolia Health Systems is seeking a Phlebotomist to-
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on residents in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
- Properly label, handle, and process specimens for laboratory testing.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols during all procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all specimens collected.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, and providers.
- Ensure residents are comfortable and treated with dignity during procedures.
- Maintain phlebotomy supplies and equipment in clean, working condition.
- Assist nursing staff and clinical team as needed with lab-related tasks.
About you: The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience:
- High-school diploma or equivalent required.
- MLT, ASCP, CPT, and AMT certification preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel.
- Verbalize understanding of basic medical terminology, practices, and procedures.
- Exhibit ability to write and summarize in a clear, complete, and concise fashion. Possess excellent English composition skills
- Must comply with all HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.
- Always maintain and exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with staff, colleagues, patients, and families.
- Exhibit ability to embrace corporate values, mission, and goals.
- Possess knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, and tests.
- Possess knowledge of medical laboratory safety, cleanliness, and infection control policies and regulations.
