Be the Bridge Between Crisis and Care.
Help transform the way Baltimore responds to behavioral health emergencies — one call, one person, one neighborhood at a time.
About Us
Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is a nationally recognized, private nonprofit at the forefront of behavioral health crisis care since 1992. As the city’s only comprehensive crisis response system, BCRI is dedicated to ensuring timely, compassionate, and community-based support to individuals struggling with mental health and substance use challenges.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Licensed Mental Health Clinician to join an elite Crisis Response Team (CRT) in collaboration with the Baltimore City Police Department. You won’t just be responding to crisis calls — you’ll be shaping a new model of care that prioritizes de-escalation, human dignity, and community trust.
As a co-responder, you’ll ride alongside officers trained in Crisis Intervention, intervening in real-time to address 911 calls involving behavioral health needs. Your work will help ensure that individuals in crisis receive clinical support instead of punitive measures — building bridges between communities and law enforcement in the process.
What You'll Do
-
Respond in the field to behavioral health crises in collaboration with police officers.
-
Deliver on-the-spot crisis intervention, de-escalation, assessments, brief therapy, and referrals.
-
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and safety planning as needed.
-
Partner closely with BCRI’s mobile crisis teams, local emergency departments, and other community behavioral health providers.
-
Serve as a liaison between residents and law enforcement, fostering trust and encouraging engagement with care.
-
Participate in cross-training with CIT police officers and maintain strong collaboration with public safety partners.
-
Attend outreach calls where an in-person response is not needed but support is still essential.
-
Ensure timely documentation and follow-up.
-
Take part in ongoing professional development, trainings, and community engagement activities.
Qualifications
What You Bring
-
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
-
Maryland licensure as LGSW, LGPC, LCSW-C, or LCPC required.
-
Minimum 2 years post-graduate clinical experience in behavioral health preferred.
-
Comfort working in high-pressure environments and responding in the field.
-
Strong commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed care.
