Summary:
Applicant must possess a High School diploma or equivalent or College courses in health care field preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Radiologic/Mammography Technologist with an accredited medical institution and a Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in good standing issued by the State of California Department of Health. Current certification as a registered Radiologic Technologist and Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Must have or willing to obtain current BLS Certification which meets the guidelines of the American Heart Association or Red Cross prior to orientation. Must have a strong physical stamina, requires frequent lifting and carrying. Must be able to work with the Indian Community and be sensitive to the Indian Culture and its needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and positions patients for diagnostic x-ray or mammography imaging, Utilize supportive/immobilization devices such as sandbags, backboards, sponges and tape for patient positioning; determine exposure factors on the basis of height, weight, portion of body involved and degree of radiation penetration required.
- Practice appropriate coning and shielding to reduce radiation exposure; maintain safety standards to guard against injury to patient and other staff personnel.
- Elicit cooperation of patients by explaining procedures; attempt to comfort those who fear radiographic and mammographic examination by giving assurance.
- Complete necessary paperwork such as patient records, completing studies and coding/superbilling the exam.
- Clean and maintain equipment; report broken or malfunctioning equipment.
- Keep exam room well-stocked and prepared for the next examination.
- Perform daily quality control (QC) checks as recommended by the equipment manufacturer and document checks in the Radiology Quality Control Logbook.
- Perform examinations and provide patient care with respect to age-specific needs. This care is to be provided as described in the Radiology Department’s policy and procedure manual.
- Perform related duties as assigned or requested.
- This position requires working evenings and weekends as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. College courses in health care field preferred.
Experience:
One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist with an accredited medical institution and minimum of two years’ experience in screening/diagnostic mammography with an accredited medical institution.
License:
Certification as a Diagnostic and Mammographic Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in good standing, issued by the State of California, Department of Health. Current certification as a registered Radiologic Technologist nationally by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
Must have or willing to obtain current BLS Certification which meets the guidelines of the American Heart Association or Red Cross prior to orientation
Ability to:
Must be able to work with the Indian Community and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Physical Demands:
Frequent walking and standing; occasional sitting and bending; power grasping, precision grasping, pushing/pulling and fine manipulation in both hands; reach or work occasionally above and below shoulder level; occasionally requires the use of both feet to operate foot controls. Frequent lifting and carrying of 10 pounds or less, and occasional lifting and carrying of over 50 pounds.
Salary:
$87,360.00 ($42.00) - $95,680.00 ($46.00)
