SUMMARY:
The dedicated scheduler receives incoming calls for scheduling mammography procedures; gives instructions to patients to ensure patients come prepared, maintains schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy of all mammography modalities; exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, physicians, and co-workers; responsible for relaying patient concerns or instructions between mammography technicians and/or physicians back to the patient; communicates patient appointment reminders; provides follow-up calls for patients who are past due for screenings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; possess moderate computer skills; high level organizational skills which must include good follow-up; be self-motivated; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with patients, physicians and other staff members; ability to type 45wpm with a minimum 6 months clerical experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Ideal candidate will possess: (1) excellent communication skills, (2) excellent phone skills, (3) ability to work in close situations with co-workers, (4) ability to follow through on matters started by a co-worker (for example, handle return phone calls made by a co-worker when he/she cannot accept a call); this qualification is critical, the employee must be willing to pick up on any matter that has been started by a co-worker (flexibility), (5) ability to document information well, (6) ability to remain professional when presented with difficulty/stress, (7) knowledge of medical terminology, (8) familiarity with ICD-9 and CPT codes, (9) good organizational skills.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day. Manipulate computer requiring motor coordination and manual dexterity. Must understand verbal communication and be able to communicate over the telephone. Reading ability is necessary to understand medical records and physician orders. Visual acuity required for fine print.
