Business Development Officer– Stoneham, MA

Full-Time 

Position Summary:

The Business Development Officer is responsible for driving growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities, focusing on deposits and other bank services. This role requires proactive outreach, relationship building, and collaboration with various departments to achieve sales goals and enhance customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Proactively generate new business by targeting deposits through strategic outreach. Plan and execute calls to prospective clients, engaging with commercial lending and cash management teams to tailor solutions that meet client needs. 
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers, businesses, and community organizations to foster goodwill and develop new business opportunities for the bank. 
  • Sales Goal Achievement: Oversee the business development process to ensure that sales goals are consistently met.  
  • Customer Retention: Partner with Loan Officers and Branch Managers to engage existing business customers, focusing on retention and expansion of account relationships.  
  • Strategic Planning: Work closely with management to contribute to both short-term and long-term strategic sales planning. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency. 
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a culture of leadership and teamwork through effective goal setting, clear communication, and delegation. Provide support and resources to branch managers and their teams to ensure the achievement of business development targets. 
  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in community events, aligning with StonehamBank’s commitment to service. This includes volunteering and representing the bank at local schools, neighborhood associations, and nonprofit organizations. 
  • Policy and Compliance: Ensure all business development activities are in full compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest standards of operational integrity. 
  • Training and Development: Collaborate with the Retail Trainer to ensure that business development training is relevant, up-to-date, and effectively equips team members with the skills needed to succeed. 
  • Additional Responsibilities: Take on additional duties as assigned by management, which may include participating in board meetings and other key organizational initiatives.
  • Participates in Community Events such as volunteering for local schools, neighborhood associations, government, and/or nonprofit organizations which is part of StonehamBank’s Values “SERVICE”. 
  • May participate in Board Meetings from time to time.
  • Protect the Bank’s data and systems against unauthorized access and cyber threats by operating in accordance with the Bank’s Employee Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement

  Minimum Qualification (Education, Experience and Skills):

A bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience is required. 7–10+ years of experience, ideally with a proven track record in business development and relationship management..

 

Latitude to Act

Judgment is required in areas of customer problems and complaints, personnel situations, and reaction to emergency situations. Expertise regarding all facets of Bank operations is required to ensure the effective counseling of customers in the selection of products and services. Must also display creativity in the training and development of subordinates, while maintaining pleasant working conditions.

 

Interpersonal Skills

Must have well - developed analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of Bank management and staff. Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, organizational and sales skills.
