JOB SUMMARY |
The Regional Lead Scale Technician is a critical role within PMG that requires a high level of technical knowledge that reports directly to the Director of Sales and Service for the applicable region. This role works closely with the Director of Sales and Service and Service Managers in the assigned region to understand and implement Quality requirements, assist with audits, complete Cert reviews, develop training plans for technicians, and function as the “go to” person in the absence of the Service Managers. This position must positively encourage the team to perform at a high level as a group and as individual contributors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
The essential job functions of this role listed below are applicable to all current and future service branches within the defined service region. Work with Coordinators to schedule appropriate flow of work to include inventory management and parts sourcing Maintains standards, assets, and critical consumables. Recall standards for calibration. Implement Preventative Maintenance Programs. Oversee interim checks. Conduct QA Review of Standards after calibration.
Technician Training and Field Support Train and mentor new and existing technicians on troubleshooting, repair, and safety protocols on scale systems and weighting devices Act as a go-to resource for escalated weighting issues in the region Lead scale system installations and complex projects to include onsite support
Partner with Application Specialists in project planning with internal teams and customers Participate in job site walkthroughs, customer meetings, and project scoping to align technical solutions with customer needs Assist with installation quoting by contributing technical insight and helping to identify potential challenges or efficiencies Support coordination, configuring devices, and software requirements Write or adapt small Indicator programs as needed to support system functionality or system integration Collaborate effectively with engineering and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of scale systems, including troubleshooting and modifying PLC programs (e.g., Allen-Bradley RS Logix 5000), HMI interfaces, and communication protocols to optimize performance
Partner with sales team to support business development efforts Assist with internal and external audits including audit preparation and orchestrating audit demonstrations in order to keep the audit progressing. Understand the abilities of the technicians in your region and assist the Managers in developing and implementing training processes and plans that include both the needs of the labs and the development goals of the technician. Review calibration certificates. Troubleshoot complicated systems and provide technical support on a broad spectrum of calibrations. Assist with customer quotes/contracts and conduct site visits as needed. Assist with safety initiatives (i.e. fire extinguisher service in warehouse and trucks) Assist Service Managers with the training and maintenance to provide safe operating test equipment (i.e. test truck inspections, fork lifts, trailers, safety equipment, tools, welders, etc) Assist Service Managers in meeting IFTA and driving hour compliance Provide technical leadership, guidance, and assistance in any future expansion within the assigned region to include organic brick and mortar expansion and/or future acquisitions. Support company decisions and initiatives by leading through changes in a positive manner. Effectively communicate timely and impartial status updates, such as operational gaps and employee assessments, to the Director of Sales and Service.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED |
Solid understanding of the following processes: Contract Review and Customer Requirements Forms Complaint Process Impact Analysis Process Corrective Action Process, particularly Root Cause Analysis Calibration Requirements - Driven by Customer, Standard or Legal Method Validation Method Verification
Control of Data Calibration Procedure and Deviations from Procedure Traceability Requirements Documentation Control Management Review Concepts Nist Handbook 44 (HB44) and Legal for Trade requirements State licensing requirements for Scale Technicians
Valid CDL license without manual restrictions and acceptable driving record Understanding of Correction Factors Knowledge and proper application of Stop Work Ability to calculate uncertainty values using a working budget

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE |
Completion of all read and signoffs for all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI) and One Quality System Completed an ISO 17025 Training Demonstrated understanding of ISO 17025 standard and the A2LA requirements Assisted with an internal audit, management review, certificate review, uncertainty budget, and out to vendor (OTV) of laboratory standards. 2 year associates degree preferred, but not required 5+ years of experience as a Calibration Technician with a broad scope of knowledge across scales systems and products Prior experience leading a team or other demonstrated leadership abilities preferred.

In depth understanding of the various software programs utilized (CrossCal, NetSuite, etc) Stands greater than four hours at a time Stoops and bends below knee level 8 – 10 times an hour Lifts and carries less than 100 pounds repetitively Climbs stairs more than four times in an eight hour shift Pushes / pulls objects greater than 25 pounds Reaches out; Reaches overhead Repetitively uses feet to walk and to drive Repetitively uses hands and grips with hands Ability to work on a computer for multiple hours at a time Ability to travel to customer sites Ability to travel between service branches in assigned region and balance time as necessary to include some overnight travel
