Scope of the Position:

The Analyst – FP&A supports data-driven decision-making by analyzing performance and profitability across a national, multi-site distribution network. Reporting to the Director – FP&A, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of the financial forecast. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, decentralized environment.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

1) Forecasting & Budgeting

  • Contribute to the budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning process.
  • Partner with business units to validate assumptions and ensure forecast accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain tools and reports used in the budgeting process.
  • Analyze and explain variances in versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.

2) Analysis & Reporting

  • Participate in the preparation of presentations to various stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze performance at product, customer, branch, and regional levels.
  • Analyze sales trends, margin and operations expenses.
  • Monitor working capital and non-financial indicators.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to track performance and KPIs.

3) Business Support & Decision-Making

  • Partner with business units, corporate finance and management to assess performance and profitability.
  • Assist business units, corporate finance and management with business cases for investment projects.

4) Tools, Data & Process Improvement

  • Enhance and automate budgeting process through advanced Excel models, BI tools and Onestream.
  • Ensure accuracy of data across systems (ERP, forecast tools, data warehouse).
  • Recommend and support continuous improvements in budgeting processes, reporting and data quality.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA or MBA is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in FP&A, financial analyst, or accounting roles – ideally in distribution, wholesale, or industrial sectors.
  • Proficient in Excel (financial modeling), ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.), and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience working with large data sets and cross-functional teams in a decentralized organization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a business mindset.
  • Able to interpret complex data set and proficient with scenario modeling.
  • Proficiency in English & French required to support the business across Canada.
