We are looking for a Senior Officer, Special Events, Public Programs and Partnerships

As the Senior Officer, Special Events, Public Programs and Partnerships, you will plan, develop, and deliver large-scale special events, public programs, and strategic partnerships for the Canadian Museum of History (CMH) and the Canadian War Museum (CWM). You will support the implementation and evaluation of the partnership strategy for both in-person and virtual activities. You will create, negotiate, and manage partnership agreements with outside organizations to advance the Museums’ goals. You will also deliver high-level protocol events and visits—welcoming Heads of State, foreign dignitaries, Indigenous leaders, and cultural or political representatives—to support cultural diplomacy and knowledge exchange.

  • You have at least five (5) years of recent, relevant experience in:
  •  Planning and managing complex, large-scale, hybrid, or virtual events and public programs and conferences in cultural, heritage, or related sectors
  •  Developing and managing strategic partnerships with government, Indigenous, cultural, or community organizations
  •  Negotiating, drafting, and implementing partnership agreements 
  • Delivering high-level protocol events with senior officials, VIPs, foreign dignitaries, or Indigenous leader
  •  Coordinating projects that involve multiple stakeholders 
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets for events or programs
  •  Managing virtual or hybrid events using digital platforms Knowledge Advanced Technical.

 

Knowledge of:

  •  Event planning methods, logistics, risk management, and evaluation 
  • Protocols for hosting government officials, foreign dignitaries, Indigenous leaders, and other VIPs 
  • Contract negotiation and agreement management, including intellectual property rights and sponsorship terms 
  • Budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting 
  • Project management principles and tools
  •  Event technology platforms, audio-visual requirements, and hybrid/virtual delivery tools 
  • Marketing and audience engagement strategies
  •  Media relations and social media platforms • Writing, editing, proofreading, and creating multimedia materials
  •  Logistics and contingency planning for facilities, equipment, hospitality, travel, and other event details
  •  Performance management principles 
  • Mandate, mission, and strategic objectives of CMH and CWM 
  • Current practices and trends in museum visitor engagement and public programming. 

Education: A degree in Public Relations, Communications, Hospitality, Event Planning/Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Compensation: E7- $ 91,202 to $ 112,869 
Status: Temporary (18 months) Full-Time Position (# 90383) 
Security Level: Reliability Status 
Location: 100, Laurier Street, Gatineau, Quebec Specific
Working Conditions: Hybrid schedule (onsite and remote work)
