The Center for Transportation Research (CTR) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to support ongoing projects in transportation data analysis and application development.
The successful candidate will conduct advanced research on the collection, integration, and analysis of large-scale transportation datasets, and will develop software tools and applications that translate research findings into practical solutions for transportation agencies, industry, and academic partners.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement data-driven methodologies to analyze transportation system performance, safety, and resilience.
- Develop prototype applications and tools to support decision-making, visualization, and real-time analysis.
- Collaborate with faculty, students, and external partners on interdisciplinary research projects.
- Prepare publications, reports, and presentations to disseminate findings to academic, government, and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong background in transportation systems, statistical modeling, and/or machine learning.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, and experience with application development frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed venues and work in collaborative research environments."

Compensation and Benefits
- Anticipated hiring range: $70,565 - $72,000
