Alstom is recruiting a Project RAM and Safety (RAMS) Manager for electrification, on the Go Expansion project, located in Toronto, Canada.

The Project RAMS Manager is part of the infrastructure RAMS team, and reporting to the Infrastructure RAMS Manager.

 

 

About Electrification team:

The Infrastructure RAMS team, is operationally delivering RAMS activities on railway infrastructure projects, tenders, as well as R&D and sustaining activities.

This team has been leading RAMS activities on the research and development of Alstom electrification high safety level solutions for the Aesthetic Power Supply (APS) and Static Recharge in Station (SRS) products and their deployment on projects, such as Bordeaux Tramway, Doha Tramway, Dubai Tramway, Nice Tramway…Ongoing projects also include Toulouse Metro, Riyadh Metro, Société du Grand Paris L18 and so on...

 

Your mission:

 

You will be the point of contact on RAMS topics for the Go Expansion project electrification scope, and engaging with the project teams and stakeholders to deliver successfully the RAMS activities on the project.

 

You will be involved in a variety of technical subjects, a strong technical acumen will be needed to assess the RAMS performance and potential areas of improvement of your scope. You will be proactive to put under control the Railway safety risks during all project phases.

 

You perform RAMS analysis according to Railway CENELEC standards and in compliance with the project regulatory and contractual requirements and Alstom internal processes.

 

What are your responsibilities?

 

  • Perform the RAMS activities for the electrification scope of work of the Toronto Go Transit corridors, including 25kV Traction Power and Overhead Contact systems, and complying with our commitments in terms of Quality, Costs and Delays.
  • Plan and produce RAMS deliverables in a timely manner to achieve the project’s milestones, and in compliance with Alstom’s Railway Safety Policy.
  • Ensure the quality of RAMS deliverables and foster their acceptance by the Customer, Independent Safety Assessors, and Safety Authorities.
  • Establish and follow the safety strategy for the electrification system, and  follow its application with customers as well as other stakeholders (ISA, Safety Authorities…)

 

You are responsible to:

 

  • Apply Alstom internal RAMS processes and instructions.
  • Support internal teams (design, procurement, installation, validation etc..) in the definition of appropriate measures to meet the RAMS requirements, and to follow their closure through documented evidence.
  • Ensure collaboration with interfacing systems and other disciplines through interface analysis and workshops
  • Be the point of contact for RAMS on electrification matters on the project, in particular with the customer.
  • Have a pro-active approach on the design assessment, to support the definition of suitable technical solutions and to put under control the railway safety risks.
  • Develop a challenging view on the overall RAM results from the contributors to strengthen the relevance of RAM studies and requirements.
  • Planning and execution of the safety and RAM activities throughout the system lifecycle, and producing the necessary safety cases (to support migration stages and revenue service

 

What do you need to qualify for this job?

  • University Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a solid knowledge of electrical and electronic systems.
  • A minimum 5 years of successful experience in RAM/Safety Management, preferably within railway industry, or Aerospace, Defence, Space, Military, Nuclear, Chemical..
  • Significant experience in Electrical and/or Electro-mechanical Engineering, preferably applied to railway AC or DC traction power systems, catenary systems, substations, high-voltage transmission systems,  grounding and bonding.
  • Knowledge of CENELEC standards EN 50126, EN 50562, EN 50122
  • Fluent in English with good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Sense of priorities, structured and organized, with hands-on approach.
