$12.63 hourly

Max. 19 hours weekly

Printing, Graphics and Mail Department

REPORTS TO:

Manager, Operations Support

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The job of Production Assistant is done for the purpose/s of reproducing a variety of printed, engraved, sublimated and embroidered products with various machines and finishing processes for MCSD school, district office and organizations affiliated with MCSD; instructional materials, conferences, special events,

board items, meetings, banners, shirts, trophies, etc. 

                  

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Educational Level:

High School Diploma or GED

2. Requirements:

Additional testing for selected candidates may be required.

3. Experience:

Job related experience is preferred.

4. Physical Activities:

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operation of bindery equipment; and safety practices and procedures; extensive knowledge of operations regarding printing, graphics, and mailing.

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in printing; knowledge of registration, web-to-print, design skills.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and

operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based

competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: working as part of team; meeting deadlines and schedules; operate and perform, efficiently, all features of Digital Operator including the stitcher, binder, folder, and other peripherals.

    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

2.

Communicates with (Manager or Admin II) for the purpose of ordering materials to maintain supply to stock.

3

Cut and Prep wide format banners, wall graphics, window clings, floor graphics, etc. for the purpose of ensuring products are finished and installed to specifications for the customer.

4.

Employs proper safety precautions regarding operating embroidery machine, (e.g., include utilization of heat-safe tools such as tweezers, tongs, mitts, heat resistant gloves, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring we are putting safety first.

5.

Identifies product types, sizes and textures for producing materials accurately and efficiently for the purpose of finishing the printed product to the specifications of the customer specifications.

6.

Maintain and demonstrates knowledge of packaging printed products for both the safety of delivery drivers, recipients of products for the purpose of ensuring safety and integrity of items throughout shipping and delivery process to specifications of the customer.

7.

Maintains various printable substrates supplies for sublimation such as t-shirts, mugs, water bottles, tumblers, badges, etc. for the purpose of ensuring standard supplies are on hand.

8.

Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of folding products via the Digital Printer fold setting for the purpose of ensuring products are to the specification of the customer.

9.

Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of proper finishing (e.g., banners, posters, yard signs, mounted signs, wide format laminating, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring products are to the specifications of the customer.

10.

Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of doing routine maintenance on heat presses for the purpose of ensuring machines are operating properly and finishing products per the specification of the customer.

11.

Maintains knowledge of proper heat settings and pressure settings for various substrates (e.g., materials to be printed on, etc.) for the purpose of finishing the product to the specifications of the customer.

12.

Mount adhesive material onto foamboard, Sintra board, yard sign, corrugated board, etc. for the purpose of ensuring products are finished and installed to specifications of the customer.

13.

Operate and maintain tape binder, hole puncher/book binder, perfect binding equipment, 3-hole punch, padding, laminator for the purpose of ensuring products are finished to the specifications of the customer.

14.

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit for the purpose of ensuring products are to the specifications of the customer.
