Overall Purpose
The job of High School Graduation Coach is done for the purpose/s of ensuring the successful transition of all students from middle to high school and from high school into some form of post-secondary education or work by providing a comprehensive prevention/intervention process for students at-risk of grade retention and/or dropping out.

Essential Functions
- Coordinates with a variety of individuals and groups (students, parents, school staff, community leaders and organizations, etc.) for the purpose of building resources and expanding program capabilities that will allow students to remain in school.
- Counsels students, parents, and guardians for the purpose of enhancing student success in graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- Develops a variety of special programs (intervention plans, course scheduling, etc.) for the purpose of providing strategies to assist students in the successful graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- Monitors students' progress (intervention plans, strategies for success, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues and taking appropriate action for increasing student success.
- Prepares applications for students for the purpose of ensuring completion of application processes within designated time frames.
- Prepares a wide variety of materials (student progress reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Presents information to a variety of individuals and groups (parents, guardians, groups of atrisk students, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback, and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
- Researches program eligibility requirements (requirements of various organizations and programs, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date, accurate information to counsel students.
- Schedules students for intervention programs (charter school, virtual school, GED Program, etc.) for the purpose of meeting their graduation eligibility requirements.
Marginal Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills-based competencies - required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include
analyzing, developing, implementing, and tracking intervention plans and strategies.
Knowledge-based competencies - required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
Specific knowledge based competencies - required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate strategies for mitigating negative behaviors that put students at risk of not graduating from high school.
Ability-based competencies - required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited.
Specific ability based competencies - required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; and working as part of a team.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Valid certificate in teaching
Service or Leadership Experience in working with at-risk students
Physical Requirements - The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
