Position Title: PEIMS Analyst
Exemption Status: Exempt
Reports To: Coordinator of Data Services
Terms of Employment: 12 months
Primary Purpose
Coordinate, authenticate, submit, and certify student and financial Texas Student Data System and Public Education Information Management System data to the Texas Education Agency. Serve as a liaison to the TEA, Education Service Center, and other agencies regarding student and financial data reporting. Collaborate with staff for data accuracy and submission completions and provide professional development to ensure accuracy. Author and provide reports, dashboards, and analytics.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or business-related field, preferred
Valid Texas Driver’s License with appropriate insurance coverage
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of PEIMS and state reporting, preferred
Basic knowledge of relational databases and building SQL views and reports
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Ability to interpret and troubleshoot errors and error reports
Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and technical documentation skills
Ability to use personal computer and software for spreadsheets, data analysis, and word processing
Proficient in Microsoft technologies for productivity, desktops, PC-based computers, and peripherals
Proficient skills in training on business systems and data analysis
Experience
Two years information systems experience providing data and systems analysis, project management, research, and application support for business applications
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Financial Ethics
- Comply with policies and procedures; internal controls; and laws as they pertain to district operations.
- Promptly report to the immediate supervisor or Superintendent any suspected violations of the code of ethics, such as theft, fraud, or any other dishonest act in the workplace.
- Act in an ethical and honest manner in all business transactions of the district.
- Maintain confidentiality of all data, files and general financial information of the district.
- Safeguard against unauthorized access to assigned computer system and electronic data.
Data Management
- Coordinate the collection, integration, and formatting of data required for TSDS and PEIMS submissions according to Texas Education Data Standards; and submit and verify complete and accurate data in compliance with TEA requirements.
- Work cooperatively with staff in the management of TSDS and PEIMS data.
- Run edits, reports, and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information. Troubleshoot error reports. Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction.
- Provide data analysis and TSDS/PEIMS report extracts using report creation software.
- Act as district liaison to regional ESC and TEA for all TSDS and PEIMS-related issues and initiatives.
- Manage and update district contact information on the TEA website.
- Provide account administration for system users and maintain security of information systems.
- Coordinate the electronic transfer of student records between districts.
- Submit Person Enrollment Tracking file to TEA weekly when school is in session and as TEA requires.
Training
- Provide training and support to campus, business, and human resources staff in processing data.
- Receive TSDS and PEIMS-related information from ESC and TEA, attend regional workshops, and disseminate information to staff in a timely manner, including TSDS and PEIMS Data Standards updates.

- Attend professional growth activities and maintain expertise in management information systems, decision support systems, database technologies, business intelligence applications, and knowledge management tools.
