Job Summary

The Los Angeles County Office of Education, International Polytechnic High School seeks a well-qualified individual to serve as a dynamic, creative and team oriented Biology teacher. Under the supervision and direction of the school site administration, the ideal candidate will work to best prepare students for college and career readiness. International Polytechnic High School provides a college preparatory curriculum and within a project-based learning environment. The selected teacher will have skills and experience that engages a diverse student population while embedding a wide array of skills beyond the content area. Students at International Polytechnic are challenged to think globally and act locally while nurturing communication, presentation and group dynamic skills. Beyond being an expert in the field of Biology, the ideal candidate will develop and deliver an engaging curriculum in biology and environmental science, fostering students' understanding of the natural world and their impact on it. They create a dynamic learning environment through hands-on activities, lab work, and field trips, while also assessing student progress and providing feedback. Additionally, they stay current with scientific advancements and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum. Finally, having a background knowledge of the philosophy and practice of Project Based learning is encouraged.

Requirements / Qualifications

License or Certificate Must hold a Single Subject Biology Teaching Credential with a full English Learner authorization (clad or equivalent).
