Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of general and technical clerical duties pertaining to libraries and interact with public and students; supervises students using the library.
REPORTS TO: Site Administrator

- Assist librarian in managing and scheduling classroom library use E
- Prepare and maintain files or records E
- Answer/make telephone calls and inquiries from students, public E
- Assist in the circulation of library materials E
- Assist students find references via internet or reference materials E
- Assist students use basic computer to prepare reports/print out reference materials E
- Collect money and prepare receipts E
- Conduct repairs to books and materials E
- Restack books and materials E
- Assist librarian in preparation of reports and correspondence E
- Other related duties as assigned
- Oversee student service workers E
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE OF:
General office procedures, practices, and operations, including filing systems, public contact, telephone techniques, preparation of correspondence, correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary; knowledge of reference materials, library catalog systems, maintenance and repair of books and materials; computer operations
ABILITY TO:
Operate computer word processing software, find reference information on internet or other resources, learn and interpret specific policies, rules and regulations with appropriate judgment; type; meet and interact with parents, public, and students in a tactful and courteous manner; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; understand and carry out oral and written instructions in Standard English; operate common office/library machines; learn current computer applications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Performs work which is primarily in a library; requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects (keyboard, telephone, and common office machines); requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print
- ; requires the mobility to stand, walk, stoop, reach, and bend; requires lifting, pushing and/or pulling books, supplies, equipment (mobility equipment), and packages, approximately 30 pounds.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Completion of high school or equivalent, or any combination of education, experience, or training that meets or exceeds the qualifications.
