Position:
The College of Health Professions invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science beginning August 2026.
Qualifications:
Earned research doctoral degree by February 28, 2027. Licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the State of Maryland; teaching experience in occupational therapy or occupational science; and active research agenda with capacity for scholarly productivity and external funding. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated awareness and clear articulation of strategies to foster an inclusive learning environment. Commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, scholarship, and service. Salary is commensurate with experience and rank; ABD candidates will be hired at the rank of instructor until doctoral degree is completed.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include Teaching: Facilitate classroom and applied learning experiences for diverse graduate professional students in occupational therapy and occupational science, advise and mentor students, and direct student research at the doctoral level. Scholarship: Conduct and disseminate research and seek external funding to support focused area of inquiry. Service: Participate in active service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.

The department values innovative teaching, active learning experiences, community-engaged research and dynamic community partnerships. Towson University is situated within proximity to nationally renowned medical centers and healthcare resources, with many opportunities to research and support best practices in occupational therapy. The College of Health Professions’ Institute for Wellbeing offers extensive opportunities for research, community outreach and program evaluation, including the Occupational Therapy Center and the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism.

ABD applicants should provide evidence of doctoral progress, such as date of final defense or letter from Committee Chair.

Salary and Benefits
Targeted salary range: $84,000-87,000 commensurate with experience.
