Viaero’ s Lead Cell Technicians perform cell site installation, maintenance, and network testing of the Viaero Wireless Network. Their work includes but is not limited to the installation and maintenance of cellular base station equipment, microwave radios, various network infrastructure equipment, tower lighting controls, rectifiers and batteries.
Responsibilities
- Help all team members troubleshooting from basics to advanced issues
- Individually coach team members on basics to advanced level issues
- Attend daily planning meetings with management to ensure outstanding tasks get addressed
- Function as lead when manager is not available
- Perform routine maintenance of cell site electronic equipment including but not limited to UMTS, LTE, TDD, & 5G base stations, licensed and unlicensed Ethernet microwave radios, Routers/Switches, Fiber transport equipment, DC power conversion equipment including batteries, standby generators, antennae and transmission lines and/or fibers.
- Monitor the performance of the base stations and microwave for any deficiencies or improvements that need to be made. Determine and coordinate capacity additions with field and switch personnel. Determine and coordinate retune of microwave radios.
- Assist tower crew in the alignment of microwave paths.
- Assist tower crew in the repair of PCS/microwave lines and antennas.
- Maintain/prepare all applicable cell site records and maintenance reports.
- Receiving, sending off to repair, and inventorying of all necessary equipment for maintaining cell sites.
- Required On Call rotation. Be available 24 hrs. a day to resolve after hours issues or to assist other team members when they are on call.
- Responsible for maintenance and professional appearance of service vehicle, according to company policy.
Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree and/or equivalent experience.
- Previous training and/or experience installing and maintaining Cellular base station equipment, microwave radios, and routers/switching equipment
- Candidates with CCNA or CCNP preferred or past work history including IP network management and administration.
- Current driver’s license and good driving record.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Ability to communicate with employees, customers and business contacts, in a courteous and professional manner.
- Incumbent will spend at least 20% of their time conversing on the telephone and will need to have the ability to hear and speak well enough to perform these duties.
- Incumbent will spend at least 30% of their time using the computer, reading computer reports, and reading correspondence and will need to have the ability to see well enough to perform these duties.
- Ability to spend at least 50% of their, time traveling to and from sites via vehicle. Sometimes driving all day performing drive testing.
