Our 2 year* programme starts with a fundamentals week for the entire graduate cohort, where you will have in depth networking and insight sessions on Rothesay as a whole. From week two, you will join your team for professional integrated learning and start to make meaningful contributions. Throughout your first year, alongside your permanent role, you will be part of an on-site graduate development programme with both technical and business skills training. Our teams run lean, giving you excellent visibility and exposure throughout the business, and we will provide continuous training and upskilling for your future. Team overview – Rothesay’s Chief Risk Officer has a team which includes the Chief Actuary and Heads of Market Risk, Liquid Credit Risk and Primary Credit Risk. The Liquid Credit Risk team is focused primarily on the externally rated exposure within the asset portfolio, and responsibilities include credit analysis, portfolio analysis, deal review and approval, limits and exposures management and surveillance. This role will support the successful portfolio management of credit risks within Rothesay across US and European investment grade corporates, European Utilities and Infrastructure, and potentially other sectors. Main responsibilities will include credit analysis and reporting on a day-to-day basis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assisting in fundamental credit analysis of issuers across the US and European investment grade corporate debt sectors, with potential for further expansion into other asset classes. Developing and maintaining a good understanding of their revenue streams, business models, the markets in which they operate and the potential impact of market events on their credit profiles.
- Monitoring compliance with portfolio investment limits, including ensuring assigned limits remain appropriate and commensurate with Rothesay’s risk appetite.
- Understanding the implications of ongoing enhancements to the rating agencies' criteria and methodologies to assess ESG risk in Rothesay’s portfolio.
Skills and experience required:
- A self-starting, proactive attitude. Rothesay operates a flat, meritocratic working environment. Candidates need to be comfortable operating autonomously and demonstrate the ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior levels within the organization.
- Intellectual curiosity combined with an ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Undergraduate, preferably holding a degree in a numerical/economic/finance discipline.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a high level of proficiency in Excel and excellent financial modelling skills.
