Power Distribution Automation Engineer
Responsibilities:- Monitor power systems performance related to plant operations and make improvements in these areas.
- Maintain backups of all software related to power distribution & water treatment operation and support systems.
- Ensure work group safety and a safe work environment for the entire department relating to changes in process control.
- Develop technicians troubleshooting skills and programming skills.
- Keep the work group and department up to date on changes affecting mill operations.
- Make program changes to protection relays and PLCs as necessary.
- Maintain the automation hardware and programming interfaces.
- Perform diagnostic testing on power systems equipment to determine trends toward equipment failures.
- Monitor SCADA systems operation and provide monthly data to accounting for budgeting
- Understanding of electrical safety practices.
- Understanding of electrical fundamentals.
- Understanding of process control systems.
- Understanding of power distribution systems.
- Understanding of motor theory.
- Understanding of variable frequency drives.
- Understanding of industrial network and communication protocols.
- Proven logical approach to troubleshooting.
- Automation system programming capabilities.
- Ability to teach and develop electrical technicians.
- Ability to work in a team.
- 4-year Engineering Degree
Preferred
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with SEL and Siemens protection relays
- Experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal
- Experience with fault analysis
- Experience with IEC 61850 communication protocol
