Distribution Manager FLSA: Exempt

Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Company) is an organization of professionals in the manufacturing and building material distribution industry. We manufacture brick and distribute our own brick as well as brick and associated products manufactured by others. We operate in 13 states with a philosophy that we are much more than a brick manufacturer and distributor.

 

Summary

 

We are seeking a “best in class” Distribution Manager that manages and aids in the planning, directing, and coordinating of warehouse associates regarding receiving, stocking, picking, loading and delivery to the customer. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to roll with the punches, being flexible to handle anything that might come their way. You will be a strong and reliable support to company operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) This is a safety sensitive position.

 

·         Emphasize safety in all aspects of the department and is responsible for all safety related training.

·         Enforce the wearing of all mandatory safety related PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

·         Plans layout of warehouse and staging areas and utilizes available warehouse/rack space in the most efficient means possible.

·         Oversees the accurate loading and unloading of materials.

·         Manages transportation, shipping, inventory purchasing and inventory replenishment at the EDC to properly support sales locations.

·         Conduct regular inventory cycle counts and reconciles the results in a timely manner.

·         Assigns duties to subordinate associates and moves associates from one department to another based on workload demand.

·         Recommends and implements new procedures.

·         Maintain all material handling equipment utilizing preventive maintenance and training.

·         May receive, investigate, evaluate and settle complaints and claims of customers.

·         Budgetary responsibilities.

Skills and Experience Required for Success

 

·         Excellent Management skills

·         Excellent communication skills

·         5+ years of related experience + Certification in forklift operation

·         Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds regularly

Education

 

·         High school diploma or equivalent required; some college is preferred
