About the Position:

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Sr. Property Claims Representative in our Claims Management Department. The Sr. Property Claims Representative plays a critical role in managing and resolving complex property insurance claims efficiently and fairly. This position requires thorough investigation, evaluation, and negotiation to ensure claims are handled in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The representative will serve as a key point of contact for policyholders, contractors, and other stakeholders, providing clear communication and expert guidance throughout the claims process. By leveraging their expertise, they will help minimize financial loss for the company while maintaining high customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this role contributes to the company’s reputation for integrity and excellence in claims service within the insurance industry.

This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate property losses, make prompt telephone and email contact with insureds, vendors, contractors, repair facilities, manufacturers, agents, regional directors, field adjusters in order to expedite claims handling to achieve maximum positive public relations for the handling of the insured’s property and/or auto claim. 
  • Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages to determine claim validity and appropriate settlement amounts.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, contractors, and legal representatives to reach fair resolutions.
  • Facilitates and mediates disagreements over the scope of damages, type of property, repairability, appropriate repair/replacement costs, to achieve customer satisfaction. Negotiates claim to an appropriate resolution within authority level and appropriate supervision. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as underwriting, legal, and risk management to ensure compliance and effective claim handling.
  • Provide timely updates and clear explanations to policyholders regarding claim status and next steps.
  • Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate concerns according to company protocols.
  • Is responsible for recognizing and identifying all recovery opportunities in their claim files, including subrogation aspects and salvage.  Is responsible for referring the claim file to the subrogation unit and providing the handler with the information needed to successfully pursue recovery. 

What We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Secondary school education with four (4) years in the insurance field and/or three (3) to five (5) years in insurance claims.  .
  • Must have or obtain appropriate state adjuster licenses.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in insurance claims or appropriate transferable concurrent experience in a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic insurance policies and make appropriate decisions based on sound analytical thinking skills and rational thought processes.
  • Familiarity with claims management software and digital documentation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume caseloads while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
