The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Lead, Engineer Reliability, you will provide technical/engineering support to plant operations and maintenance to ensure safe and reliable plant operation. The role focuses on minimizing risks, preventing/reducing failures, and ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for rotating equipment reliability continuous improvement, life cycle asset management and proactive/predictive monitoring and PM plan.

- Shift schedule: 4 x 3, 10-hour shifts (Monday to Thursday)

Key Accountabilities:
- Regular monitoring of equipment performance and take corrective action when required
- Identify potential risks to asset reliability and develop strategies to mitigate those risks
- Ensure the proper care and maintenance of assets throughout their entire lifespan
- Understand equipment health status, identify, and assess equipment performance anomaly and take sets of proactive actions to fix issues
- Analyze data from various sources to identify patterns and trends, allowing for better decision-making
- Carry-out continuous improvement initiatives to resolve systematic issues of rotating equipment
- Other responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain a list of forward-looking bad actors of rotating equipment and drive their resolution
- Track and report on key reliability metrics (e.g., MTBF, MTTR)
- Work with other departments (e.g., maintenance, operations, engineering) to ensure alignment on reliability goals
- Experience with solid handling equipment such as crushers, conveyors, pulleys, apron feeders, rotary breakers, and slurry pumps
- Develop RIK and CWP packages as required
- Contribute to the development and management of budgets related to reliability initiatives
- Lead root cause failure analyses to identify true root cause and eliminate future failures
- Develop PM (preventative maintenance) plans, maintenance strategies and spares requirement to ensure reliable operation of the plant
- Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural
- Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
What You Bring to the Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
- Registered as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta with APEGA
- 10+ years of experience in an operating facility, with extensive Rotating equipment experience
- 10+ years of experience in solid handlings equipment such as crushers, apron feeders, rotary breakers, and conveyor belts
- Good working knowledge and understanding of CEMA, Slurry transport, API, ANSI, ASME and ABSA requirements
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, data analysis, and relevant industry standards
- Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and draw conclusions, as well as identify and resolve complex problems related to rotating solid handling equipment reliability
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and to lead and influence teams to achieve reliability goals
- Experience with vibration analysis monitoring and lubrication programs
- Extensive background in preventative maintenance and equipment life cycle strategies
