Position Overview
We’re looking for a Head of Production to lead Saylor’s production function.
This role will oversee all aspects of content and campaign production, ensuring seamless execution from concept through delivery. You’ll manage and mentor a team of Producers and our Post-Production team, building the structure, processes, and culture that enable high-quality, efficient, and innovative production across the agency.
The Head of Production will partner closely with account, creative, and strategy leads, balancing creative ambition with operational excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and has a proven ability to scale production functions.
Location & Salary
This is a full-time, exempt role with a salary of $160,000-$200,000, depending on experience based in Los Angeles. This is a hybrid role, working out of our office in Echo Park.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of content and campaign production, from budgeting and scheduling to execution and delivery.
- Ensure production meets creative vision, client expectations, and Saylor’s quality standards.
- Manage resource allocation across projects to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead and grow Saylor’s production and post-production teams.
- Set clear goals, provide coaching and mentorship, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and creative problem-solving.
- Develop and implement scalable production processes, workflows, and tools that support cross-departmental collaboration.
- Build and manage production schedules and resourcing plans across multiple concurrent projects.
- Track project health, flag risks early, and implement solutions to keep work on time and on budget.
- Oversee production budgets, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and profitability.
- Negotiate with vendors, freelancers, and external partners to achieve best value while maintaining quality.
- Partner with finance and leadership on forecasting, resourcing, and margin management.
- Serve as a Saylor’s production point of contact for key clients, building trust through proactive communication and reliable delivery.
- Collaborate with creative, strategy, and account leads to align production approaches with project goals and client needs.
- Advocate for production best practices and set clear expectations with both internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of production experience in an agency, studio, or production company, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Deep expertise in content production across formats (digital, social, broadcast, experiential, influencer, etc.).
- Strong understanding of post-production workflows and best practices.
- Proven experience managing production budgets, schedules, and resources at scale.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent client-facing communication and negotiation skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders.
