Purpose:

The Production Scheduler’s purpose revolves around ensuring manufacturing processes run efficiently by developing and implementing production schedules. As a Production Scheduler, you will work alongside other teams to ensure that goods are produced according to customer demand and delivery requirements. Your day-to-day tasks will include analyzing production data, identifying bottlenecks, coordinating with other teams to eliminate production constraints, and adjusting production schedules to maximize output while managing resources effectively. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Build harmonious relationships with Production, Storage and Distribution leaders around forecasted production schedules to ensure minimal disruption and maximum performance.
  • Regularly monitor Production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet forecasted yield goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of production and communicate updates to management.
  • Identify potential production delays and develop contingencies.
  • Evaluate production process for efficiency and recommend improvements.
  • Follow established production scheduling processes and procedures to ensure all relevant information is used to establish a production schedule that provides the optimum balance of meeting customer expectations and maximizing production efficiency. If a gap in established procedures is identified, address as quickly as practical.
  • Continuous review of existing procedures for waste reduction and cost savings opportunities
  • Assist in Inventory Management by performing a quarterly analysis of ABC together with XYZ to help avoid shortages and overstocking. Determine accurate safety stock levels when demand fluctuates.
  • Ensure all forecasts, special customer requests and the appropriate sales history is considered while creating schedules
  • Audit domestic and export sales order entry to ensure material availability
  • Communicate with all business stakeholders (Regional Sales Managers, Internal CSRs, local production team, regional planning, AGNA schedulers etc.) at the appropriate frequency to keep them apprised of the current schedule and any changes that may directly affect them or their customers.
  • Create new parts as requested and maintain MM module master data to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Maintain the standard size list by periodically reviewing to add or remove materials as sales trends change.
  • Maintain up to date safety stock values that underpin the standard size list.
  • Monitor inventories and schedule products to be replenished before stock outs occur
  • Lead scheduling meetings at appropriate frequencies to communicate upcoming schedule and recent changes to the schedule. Ensure that the schedule is communicated effectively to all plant stakeholders
  • Monitor production and initiate any schedule changes that are needed as a result of significant deviation from plan
  • Monitor and communicate schedule adherence to the plant team as well as the regional planning team
  • Actively participate in planning for campaign products
  • Initiate packaging orders as needed for the float schedules to ensure necessary packaging is on hand prior to production.
  • Stay abreast of any packaging or rack inventories issues and communicate needs or concerns to department head, customer service and other personnel as needed
  • Regularly review stock to identify slow-moving and obsolete stock opportunities and communicate as necessary.
  • Regularly review stock to identify any Jumbo stoce cutdowns that are needed and work with the MTO scheduler to ensure timeliness of cutdowns to meet customer demands.
  • Act as the primary backup for off-line and made to order scheduling
  • Additional responsibilities – performs other duties as assigned
  • Provide periodic on call support to maintain continuous operations.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business or related field
  • Customer focused - very patient
  • Ability to work efficiently in a computerized environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong excel skills – ability to write and interpret formulas and macros
  • Scheduling experience in a manufacturing setting

 

Qualifications Desired:

  • SAP PP (Production Planning) and/or MM (Materials Management) module experience
  • 6 Sigma or Green Belt Certification
  • Knowledge of float glass production
