Van Cleef Engineering has an immediate opening for an entry-level Bridge Engineer/Inspector in our Freehold, NJ office (or potentially other Van Cleef offices). This is a full-time, immediate opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing beginning level bridge safety inspection work as a member of a bridge safety inspection team and assist higher level inspectors
- May be required to perform manual labor such as climbing onto scaffolding and carrying/using ladders to access bridge structures
- Assisting in the design and detailing/drafting of bridge and highway elements
- Preparation of bridge inspection reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred;
- 0-5 years of experience, preferably with bridge inspections, or similar field/construction related work;
- Valid Driver’s License;
- Strong communication, data management and technical writing skills, both oral and written;
- Proficiency in the use of computers for developing engineering spreadsheets and report writing;
- Attendance of Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (NHI Course 130053) is a plus;
- Ability to work nights on occasion;
- Ability to work from raised work platforms over roadways and waterways, and physical ability to carry ladders and other inspection equipment;
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.

Compensation
$65,000 - $85,000 annually commensurate with experience.
