The general role of the General Laborer - Fiber will include site preparation, loading/unloading materials, assisting skilled tradespeople, operating hand tools and light machinery, and maintaining safety. The General Laborer will support the Fiber Optics Department in Farmington, NM. The General Laborer - Fiber position will require a flexible work schedule and a willingness to travel, work extended hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings and extensive overnight/out-of-town work as needed.
What You'll Do:
- Perform the day to day tasks assigned by the customer, foremen, or superintendent
- Assist with the Fiber team with consistent quality and safe work practices
- Maintaining cleanliness of work areas
- Must be able to operate hand power tools of all types including: air hammers, shovels, and a variety of other equipment and instruments
- Willingness to cut brush, clear grounds, use picks, shovels, wheelbarrows, axes, etc.
- Cleans and prepares sites, digs trenches, and assists with repairs
- Loading and unloading trucks

What You'll Bring:- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Industrial experience or equivalent/relevant education and experience preferred
- Hydro-excavation experience preferred
- Trenching experience preferred
- Horizontal Direction Drilling experience preferred
- Knowledge of the use of power tools
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations
- Ability to meet deadlines
Working Conditions
- Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
- Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations.

This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. In accordance with The Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy, employees are required to participate in random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.
